Florida Teacher Blog Hop {Plus a FREEBIE and a GIVEAWAY}

Welcome to the Sunshine State! Enjoy yourself as you take a tour around our wonderful {and large!} state! Grab some freebies along the way, and be sure to enter to win our Bundles of Sunshine!

I have almost always lived in Northeast Florida (except for my time in Tallahassee at FSU!). A couple of things I love about Jacksonville is that it's by the beach and we've got the Jacksonville Jaguars.  Say what you will, but I'm a football fan and an avid Jags fan (no matter what)!

I was lucky enough to live only a block or two from the beach during most of early twenties when I first started teaching.  I loved it!  So nice to be able to take walks on the beach whenever I felt like it, plus I loved how everything was so close- stores, restaurants, etc. and there was always fun stuff going on.  After I got married, we decided to move inland a little ways so we could actually afford a nice house.  It's great, but I do miss those easy living beach days.

I'm sure you've heard about our new Jaguar stadium upgrades too- pools, cabanas, and the largest video boards in the world (in each end zone)- oh my!  Here's what Jags fans have to look forward to- unveiling July 26th!  I'm excited for this season even if we are the underdogs at every game.

One of my favorite Jacksonville views is driving into downtown at night- the view is so pretty.  They jazzed up all the bridges with lights back when we hosted the Super Bowl.

  1. My husband's family lives in St. Augustine and lived outside of Jacksonville (St. John's) a few years ago. The city is beautiful. :) Maybe next time I'm up there we should grab lunch!

  3. Most of my extended family lives in Jax Beach! I did NOT know about all of those additions to the stadium... that looks incredible! I'm confused about why anyone would want to be swimming during a football game, but it looks amazing nonetheless. :)

  4. Can you believe I have lived my whole life in Florida and have never been to Jacksonville? I have been to St. Augustine twice, but not Jax. I should probably remedy this!!!

  8. Wow, you were one lucky gal growing up so close to the beach! I would love to be able to take strolls along the beach in the morning to watch the sunrise or set... what a relaxing way to start/end your day. I love your downtown view. It's similar to the view down here in Miami with the exception of that BEAUTIFUL bridge, love it!

  10. You are right. I have driven by that bridge at night and it is beautiful. Jax. is a very big, busy city though. It is easy to get lost in when you are new to the area. I bet there are plenty of things to do there. I never made it to the beach. Thanks for the posters!

  11. What?!? Pools and cabanas at a stadium?!? That's crazy!! I have been to Jacksonville many times. Usually for shopping or concerts. :) The first time I drove there, I was so scared to go on the bridges! :)

  12. I am glad we are both in this blog hop together! I love meeting colleagues from other schools, even virtually.

    Your pictures of Jacksonville at night and the amphitheater are great! You can just barely see where my boyfriend and I first met 13 years ago. My friends and I went to see Grease as a Midnight Movie. Who knew such a great thing would come from that?

    I'm a BIG football fan, just not the Jags. ;) How about those scoreboards? I was skeptical, but they look amazing!

    Enjoy the rest of your summer!
